 이번에는 스티븐잡스 스탠포드 졸업축사 3차시 공부를 시작한다

3차시는 내 영어 실력으로는 좀 어렵게 느껴졌다.

내가 컨디션이 안 좋아서 그런가 모르겠다

나중에 다시한번 들어야겠다.

It was the first computer with beautiful typography.
If I had never dropped in on that single course in college,
the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces
or proportionally spaced fonts.

And since Windows just copied the Mac,
it's likely that no personal computer would have them.
If I had never dropped out,
I would have never dropped in on that calligraphy class,
and personal computers might not have
the wonderful typography that they do.

Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward
when I was in college.
But it was very, very clear looking backwards ten years later.
Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward.

You can only connect them looking backwards,
so you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.
You have to trust in something:

your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.
Because believing the dots will connect down the road
will give you the confidence to

follow your heart
even when it leads you off the well-worn path,
and that will make all the difference.

지난번에 이어서 스티븐잡스의 스탠포드 대학 졸업축사를 유튜브로 공부했다.

And 17 years later I did go to college. But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out.

And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life. So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out OK. It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The minute I dropped out I could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me, and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting.

It wasn't all romantic. I didn't have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends' rooms, I returned coke bottles for the 5¢ deposits to buy food with, and I would walk the 7 miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple. I loved it. And much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on. Let me give you one example:

Reed College at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country. Throughout the campus every poster, every label on every drawer, was beautifully hand calligraphed. Because I had dropped out and didn't have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this. I learned about serif and san serif typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great. It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can't capture, and I found it fascinating.

토익공부를 하는데 맨날 대충 하는 거 같다.

시간만 낭비하고 있다는 생각이 들었다.

그러던 도중에 유튜브로 스티븐잡스 스탠포드 졸업축사한 것을 공부할 수 있도록 

만들어 논 영상을 봤다.

매일 하나씩 보고 공부를 하면 도움이 될 거 같아서 공부했다.

유튜브에 스티븐 잡스 스탠포드 졸업축사 치면 공부할 수 있는 자료가 많다.

나는 그중에 하나를 골라서 듣고

공책에 받아적으면서 공부를 햇다.

I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No big deal. Just three stories.

The first story is about connecting the dots.

I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. So why did I drop out?

It started before I was born. My biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife. Except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl.

So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking: "We have an unexpected baby boy; do you want him?" They said: "Of course." My biological mother later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would go to college.

유튜브로 공부하는 토익 파트4는 총 100문장인데

저번에 11문장인가?까지 공부했다.

저번에 11문장까지 딕테이션하는데 시간도 많이 걸려서 효율이 좋지 않다고 생각했다.

그래서 이번에는 공부 방법을 바꾸었다.

새로운방법!

1.파트4 13분가량의 유튜브를 그냥 들었다.

2.파트4 동영상 파일에 소리를 따라 읽으면서 1번 더 들었다.

3.동영상을 한문장 한문장씩 의미를 생각하고 들었다.

  ㄴ 의미를 모르겟으면 더이상 모르겠다고 생각할 때까지 들었다.

  ㄴ 그다음 딕테이션을 했다.

  ㄴ 확인 후 틀리거나 놓쳤던 문장을 연습장에 계속썼다 쓰면서 5번정도 읽었다. 

  ㄴ 완성된 문장을 5번정도 읽었다.

안된다.

5분 34초까지 공부했다.

지겹다 

오늘은 그만하고 내일 또 해야겠다.

토익 공부를 취직을 위해서 해야할 시기가 왔다.

혼자서 공부를 하기 시작하는데 어떻게 해야할지 고민이 되어서 유튜브에서 토익 lc 공부법이라는 검색을 통해서 여러명의 유튜버의 공통점을 적어서 정리를 해서 내것으로 만들고자 한다.

토익lc 파트별 문제 풀이 법과 복습법을 알아보자

파트1 문제풀이법

1.파트1 디렉션할때 rc 파트5를 푼다.

2.abcd를 그림에 옆에 적어둠.

3.문제를 소거해서 답을 고른다.

4.답을 바로 답안지에 마킹한다.

파트1 복습법

1.틀린문제를 다시푼다.

2.다시푼다.

3.맞추면 넘어가고, 틀리면 딕테이션을한다.

  ㄱ.딕테이션은 한문장을 통째로 듣고 의미를 먼저파악한다. 

  ㄴ.의미가 파악되면 한문장을 구간반복해놓고 받아적기를 한다. (다 못적겠으면 주어 동사 목적어라도 꼭 적는다)

  ㄷ.해설지를 보고 고친다.

  ㄹ.따라서 10번 읽어본다.

파트2 문제풀이법

1.파트2 디렉션할때 a,b,c를 문제 위에 적고 밑으로 구간을 나눈다.

2.문제를 소거해서 답을 고른다.

3.답을 바로 답안지에 마킹한다.

파트2 복습법 (파트1과 같다)

1.틀린문제를 다시푼다.

2.다시푼다.

3.맞추면 넘어가고, 틀리면 딕테이션을한다.

  ㄱ.딕테이션은 한문장을 통째로 듣고 의미를 먼저파악한다. 

  ㄴ.의미가 파악되면 한문장을 구간반복해놓고 받아적기를 한다. (다 못적겠으면 주어 동사 목적어라도 꼭 적는다)

  ㄷ.해설지를 보고 고친다.

  ㄹ.따라서 10번 읽어본다.

파트3,4,

파트3,4 문제풀이법

1.디렉션때 빨리 파트3,4의 뒤쪽 그래프를 본다(숫자, 고유명사-사람이름,회사이름,제품이름, 시간, 장소)

  ㄴ보통 주어 동사를 위주로 들어야하는데, 문제와 보기는 주어와, 동사, 시간 숫자 장소가 중요함)

2.그다음 3개의 문제를 읽고 대화의 흐름을 상상함(보통 남자여작의 대화를 통해 어떤상황에서 말하는지)

  ㄴ 보기를 보면서(명사) 문제가 묻는 것을 파악함.

3.대화가 끝나면 문제가 다풀어져야함. -> 다 못풀었으면 그문제는 버려야함. -> 왜냐하면 토익 듣기는 흐름이 중요한데 흐름이 깨짐.

4.문제를 읽어줄때 다음 문제를 읽고 대화의 흐름을 상상해야함.

파트3,4, 복습법

1.문제를 다시푼다.

2.또 틀린문제만 복습한다.

  ㄱ.먼저 지문을 보고 해석해본다.

  ㄴ.지문을 10번 따라 읽는다.

  ㄷ.딕테이션을 한다.   

    딕테이션은 한문장을 통째로 듣고 의미를 먼저파악한다.

    의미가 파악되면 한문장을 구간반복해놓고 받아적기를 한다. (다 못적겠으면 주어 동사 목적어라도 꼭 적는다)

    해설지를 보고 고친다.

    따라서 10번 읽어본다.

토익 lc 파트3, 파트4 독학을 하면서 느낀점인데

보통 영어듣기하면 실력을 높이긴 위해서 딕테이션을 많이들 하라고 한다.

근데 파트1,2는 받아적을 수 있겠는데 

파트3,4로 들어가서 장문이 나오니까 도저히 따라 적지를 못하겠더라..

그냥 듣고 따라적긴 하는데 내가하는 방법이 맞는지 아닌지 생각이 들었다.

그래서 유튜브에서 영어 딕테이션을 방법을 검색해서

여러명의 유튜버들의 영어 딕테이션 방법을 보고 그들의 공통점을 발견했다.

결론

토익lc나 영어듣기하는 방법, 딕테이션 방법을 정리해보자면

1.먼저 알아고있는 문장을 듣는 것이 좋다(이미 해석과, 문장분석이 끝난 문장)

그렇지 않다면 그냥 영어문제를 풀고 듣는것이라면

2. 영어 문장 전체를 듣는다.(의미 파악이 될때까지 -> 중간에 멈춤없이)

3. 영어 문장 전체를 1번 듣고 자신이 들었던 것을 적어간다.( 더이상 적을 수 없을 때까지 반복한다)

4. 다적은 문장 수정한다.(해설지를보고)

5. 그문장들을 들으면서 따라 말한다.

이것이 영어 듣기의 방법이고, 딕테이션하는 방법인 거 같다.

혼자서 지금 토익lc공부를 하는데 많은 향상이 있어서 lc 고득점을 받고 싶다.
